repealing the death penalty a key vote made through a senate committee and linda so is here with the details so where do things stand. >> reporter: the bill that would repeal the death penalty heads to the full senate for debate next week. the senate judicial proceedings committee voted 6-5 to push the measure through last night. it's the first time in a very long time the measure it out of the committee which is long been considered one of the biggest obstacles to getting the death pnlt repealed. all but two democrats on the committee voted in favor of the repeal. republicans were against it arguing if you were to get rid of it there would be no punishment for those who committed the worst of crimes. >> by suggesting you no longer have the ultimate sanctions out there once they are incarcerate then there's the concern for those who risked their lives every day inside the walls of the prison that there is noultimate sanctions for the people. >> reporter: add vow kits of the repeal say they have enough
